Rendeavour is an urban land developer with a total land bank in excess of 12,000 ha across Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana, Zambia and the DRC. Rendeavour is developing city-scale mixed-use sites. Appolonia, a partnership between Rendeavour, Africa’s leading urban land developer and local communities, is a fully master-planned, mixed-use and mixed-income urban development in the Greater Accra Metropolitan. Appolonia aims to strengthen its core team by hiring a talented, experienced HSE Officer.
- Initiate, develop, implement, and coordinate environmental health and safety management plans, programs, policies and strategies for ensuring a safe working environment in Appolonia City, and enforce total HSE compliance on site.
- Perform audits and inspections of work sites, as required to ensure compliance with safety and health program requirements.
- Prepare HSE reports of inspection findings; and develops corrective actions where required.
- Review existing policies and measures, and update according to legislation and best industry standards
- Advise and instructing stakeholders on various safety-related topics (noise levels, use of machinery, waste disposal)
- Organise OHS training for employees and inductions for site contractors and workers.
- Conduct daily environmental and safety audits of all work sites.
- Prepare and share HSE reports on all works within Appolonia City with the team weekly.
- Inspect and examine all health and safety related complaints, workplace accidents, outbreaks of diseases, the spill of hazardous toxins or poison.
- Search for physical, biological, and chemical workplace hazards.
- Investigate the construction site to ascertain equipment, production, and material processes do not pose a safety or health hazard to employees, work guests, and the general public
- Prepare and maintain daily safety and health reports or injury logs and ensure they are completed and submitted to relevant government agencies when required.
- Advise and induct contractors, visitors, employees and all relevant stakeholders on issues of workplace safety and environmental protection.
- Creating different frameworks that will reduce accidents and improve workplace safety.
- Verify the adequacy and safety of all work proposed tools and equipment.
- Review and approve all subcontractors’ safety plans.
- Train and run drills and exercises with staff and client on how to manage an emergency situation.
- Ensure application and compliance with Group Anti-Corruption and Bribery Policy, Anti-Money Laundering Policy and Health, Safety and Quality standards.
- Ensure compliance with Health and Safety policies on site at all times.
Requirements
Skills and Experience :
A minimum of 8-10 years’ experience as a safety officer, with a minimum of 3 years spent in a supervisory role.Profound knowledge of industry standards and regulations (OSHA)Experience writing reports and policies for health and safety.Familiarity with conducting data analysis and reporting statistics.Ability to communicate excellently in both oral and written format.Ability to climb heights using ladders or scaffolding.OSHA 30-hour certification is an added advantage.
