Key Responsibilities :
Initiate and promote GESI-inclusive organizational practices through the GESI self-assessment and action plan. This may also incorporate training on Unconscious Bias, accessible workspaces, etc.
Build strategic partnerships and networks. This will include influencing, networking and collaborating with national level government, NGOs, donor agencies, UN Agencies, Clusters, Working Groups, and peers working in GESI. This may include developing thought leadership pieces to highlight World Vision’s work in gender equality, disability and social inclusion.
It will also include developing strategic partnerships with women’s organisations and organisations of people with disabilities
Build GESI capacity by :
a) supporting staff to develop partnerships with women’s organisations and organisations of people with disabilities;
b) ensuring all staff, child monitors, and volunteers receive gender equality, disability inclusion and social inclusion refresher training at least once every two years; and
c) leading and coordinating capacitybuilding strategy for WV staff and affiliates related to gender equality, disability inclusion and any other locally-defined factors of social inclusion;
d) supporting staff to build capacity for disability inclusion by identifying children with disability using the Washington Group Questions and provide referrals / assistance to children with disabilities.
Lead GESI integration in the office’s programming across all funding sources by : a) ensuring all programmes and projects are based on gender and disability analysis;
b) supporting teams to collect and analyse data by gender, age, and disability, using inclusive approaches to data collection;
c) leading the contextualization of programming tools, models and approaches based on formative GESI Assessments / GESI Analysis;
d) supporting teams to include and report on GESI-related indicators, using WV’s GESI domains of change;
e) ensuring there is adequate budget for GESI; and.
f) ensuring complaints and response mechanisms are accessible in all communities where WV works, in line with the Programme Accountability Framework (PAF), and captures GESI related complaints.
Build GESI evidence base. This will include :
a) developing a GESI learning agenda
b) initiating and overseeing GESI-related research that contributes to external positioning, thought leadership, and program quality; and
c) sharing learning with GESI community of practice and external stakeholders and audiences.
Lead GESI Policy Implementation. This will include :
a) contextualising the WVI GESI Policy;
b) developing and coordinating a one-time training for all WV staff on the GESI Policy;
c) promoting and rolling out GESI Policy to all staff and affiliates; and d) reporting on progress towards GESI Policy implementation.
Required Professional Experience
- Minimum 5 years community development field experience. Accountability and the use of a range of simple monitoring tools (e.g. FGDs, community scorecards, power analysis etc
- Networking and coalition building at multi-level
- 3. local and sub-national level advocacy coordination
- Experience in supporting GESI responsive and transformative designs and related mainstreaming strategies and activities across various sectors
- Experience in disability inclusion in programming
- Experience leading GESI analysis (specifically gender and disability analysis) to inform design and to support GESI-Responsive monitoring and evaluation
- Experience in policy influence, advocacy or research related field
- Knowledge of current approaches to gender equality, disability inclusion and broader inclusion programming in both complex humanitarian disaster and transformational development environments
- Understanding of institutional donors and / or World Vision / INGO GESI frameworks, emerging models, policies and / or programming
- Experience leading or supporting Organizational GESI Self-Assessments or GESI Audits
Required Education,
1. First degree or equivalent in experience. A master’s degree will be an advantage.
2. Significant experience in local level advocacy, especially Rights Based Programming Approaches
3. Significant experience in capacity building
4. Strong knowledge management skills desirable especially data collection skills
6. Strong Project Management skills
7.Strong facilitation skills
8. Must have excellent written and spoken English. Local languages will be an advantage
Preferred Knowledge
and Qualifications
1. Bachelor’s degree or master’s in law, gender studies, social work, development studies, social development, economics, or relevant field preferred.
2. Experience working in an international Civil Society Organization
3. Field Level experience in gender, social inclusion and / or disability
4. Awareness of current trends in GESI.
