Role Purpose

The Estimator – SMPP is responsible for preparing detailed and accurate cost estimates for structural steel, mechanical, platework, and piping (SMPP) works in mining, oil & gas, and industrial projects. The role ensures completeness of scope, correctness of calculations, and competitiveness of pricing while supporting the Senior Estimator and wider Estimation team in delivering winning proposals and cost submissions.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Mechanical, Civil / Structural Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or related field.
• Training in cost engineering / estimation software is an advantage.
• Minimum 6 years of experience in estimation within the mining, oil & gas, or heavy industrial construction sectors.
• Demonstrated experience estimating SMPP works on medium to large-scale projects.
• Familiarity with West African mining / industrial projects preferred.
• Proficiency in estimation software (e.g., Candy CCS, MS Excel advanced costing models).
• Strong ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
• Knowledge of productivity rates, manhour calculations, and equipment sizing for SMPP.
• Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work under pressure and deliver estimates within tight deadlines.
• Commercial awareness and commitment to cost competitiveness.
