Job description

Role purpose :

  • To implement and advise on regional sales and distribution strategy for all channels to drive growth in market share.
  • To develop and advise on regional mobile and fixed channel distribution including SME prepaid lines across the country and grow electronic airtime contribution.
  • To grow acquisition and revenue market share across all channels in the region.
  • Implement and advise on Telecel Mobile Financial services strategy for acquiring new customers and growing the portfolio through unmatched customer experience in the region.
  • To drive acquisition for Fixed Products and serve as the link between the major stakeholders in the region.
  • Responsible for the overall Business health of the Consumer Mobile and Fixed businesses and the Mobile Financial Services in the region.
  • Manage and develop team capability in the region.

Key accountabilities and decision ownership :

Sales and Distribution Strategy

  • Leadership of the Distribution and Acquisition teams to deliver value and growth in the region.
  • Leadership in delivering efficient distribution for all channels through improving distribution, return on Investment in the region.
  • Develop appropriate performance metrics and measures to monitor progress against targets, taking appropriate managerial action to ensure all sales targets for all channels are exceeded in the region.
  • Liaise with the Customer Experience team to implement Customer Experience strategy across channels (Sales, Retail shops, Associate Distributor shops etc.) in the region.
  • Shape future direction of Telecel’s acquisition offers for Mobile Financial Services Business customers.

  • Use market and customer-based insights to acquire customers in the regions .
  • Identify market trends, opportunities, and risks to define future propositions and promotions that drive customer acquisition and growth in the regions.
  • Responsible for the P&L [business case] of the acquisition offers for all areas of Mobile Money in the region.
  • Work with internal teams to develop agency briefs & further research strategies (including discussion guides, questionnaires, marketing briefs and product descriptions) for the region.
  • Drive Mobile Money innovations to diversify Telecel Ghana revenue stream in the regions
  • Ownership and management of the relationship with new Mobile Financial Services Business customers [acquisition plus first 3 months with Telecel] in the region.
  • Ensure the business meets any external (regulatory) requirements appropriately in their field in the region.
  • Deliver regional Mobile Money targets.
  • Drive and Motivate team to achieve regional sales targets.
  • Customer Experience and CXX delivery

  • Work with the Experience team to lead and inspire Telcel’s direct experience channels in the region.
  • Execute the experience strategy in the region.
  • Contribute inputs into overall customer experience strategy.
  • Responsible for CXX delivery in the region.
  • Managing Profit and Loss

  • Overall responsibility in managing regional Sales and Distribution budget to deliver efficiency.
  • Managing regional Distribution and Sales costs to deliver positive return on Investment.
  • Identify operational and staff requirements to achieve operational effectiveness and to meet regional objectives.
  • Developing Sales and Distribution capabilities

  • Collaborate with HR Business Partner to identify gaps and develop capacity and capabilities of the regional team
  • Develop talent matrix in managing succession planning within region.
  • Adherence to health, safety, and wellbeing standards in the region.
  • Core competencies, knowledge, and experience :

  • Experience in delivering market insights and lead strategy within a large and complex organization.
  • Over 5 years’ experience in senior position.
  • Experience in the Mobile money services industry in emerging markets.
  • Experience in the Fixed industry in emerging markets.
  • Proven capability of working within an environment of rapid operational and cultural changes.
  • Ability to communicate at all levels of the organisation.
  • Ability to coordinate and work with multiple teams of the organization to resolve issues
  • English – Fluent
  • Local language – Conversational
  • Qualification Required & Experience

    Must have technical / professional qualifications :

  • Masters / Equivalent degree in Sales & Marketing or related fields.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office particularly Excel.
  • Strong analytical skills and problem-solving skills.
