About the role:

We are looking for a reliable, responsible, and trustworthy Custodian to oversee and safeguard school property, facilities, and assets during periods when the school is not in regular operation. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the security and condition of the school premises, monitoring school assets, and promptly reporting any loss, damage, or suspicious activity.

You will ensure day-to-day oversight, security, and care of the school premises and its assets. The role ensures that school property remains safe, secure, properly stored, and accounted for.

The Custodian will:

• Provide daily oversight and safeguard school premises, facilities, and assets.
• Securely open and close premises, locking all classrooms, offices, and store areas.
• Monitor the grounds for theft, damage, unauthorized access, or suspicious activity.
• Prevent unauthorized use of school property and equipment.
• Ensure furniture, teaching materials, and assets are properly stored and maintained.
• Assist with periodic inventory checks and account for missing or damaged items.
• Inspect facility conditions and report maintenance needs promptly.
• Promote basic upkeep, cleanliness, and efficient use of utilities like water and electricity.
• Maintain simple activity logs and report any security concerns to supervisors.
• Comply with all school safeguarding, security, and operational procedures.

Location and Reporting:

This is a full-time position. The Custodian will report to the School Leader with dotted line to the Operations team at Rising Ghana HQ. We have two positions available:

• Custodian at our RISE school in Weija-Oblogo
• Custodian at our school in Opeikuma.

As the role involves working on school premises, the successful candidate will be required to complete the organization's security/background, police clearance, and reference checks before appointment. A valid police clearance is mandatory.

Requirements

Experience and Qualification

• WASSCE is the minimum educational qualification.
• Must be physically fit and able to perform routine duties around the school premises.
• Must demonstrate honesty, integrity, reliability, and trustworthiness.
• Must have a clear security/background check record.
• Able to follow instructions and work independently with limited supervision.
• Good communication skills and the ability to report issues clearly.
• Previous experience in custodial, security, cleaning, facilities support, property/premises management, or similar school, residential, office, or facility-based roles is an advantage.
