BACKGROUND ON Ghana IHP :

The purpose of the USAID-funded Ghana Integrated Health Partnership (IHP) activity to strategically contribute to the Government of Ghana’s strategies to reduce preventable maternal, newborn and child deaths, including stillbirths, and improve their overall health and well-being by 2030. Activities are expected to advance Ghana toward increased localization, strengthening the capacity of Ghana institutions and local organizations to introduce, deliver, scale up, and sustain the use of evidence-based, quality MNCH, voluntary family planning, malaria, nutrition, and global health security services. The project will increase access, utilization and quality of maternal and child health, family planning, malaria, and nutrition services to reduce preventable maternal, newborn and child deaths in northern Ghana.

POSITION SUMM ARY :

Project HOPE seeks a Knowledge Management & Communication Specialist who will enhance visibility of learnings and support effective program implementation, reporting, and documentation for the Ghana IHP Activity. They will develop and expand learning and high-quality documentation and ensure that the project’s progress, achievements, and results are communicated regularly and accurately to all relevant stakeholders. They will ensure that the IHP project’s messaging about Project HOPE’s work is accurate, current, and meets editorial and brand standards established by the Communications Team. The person in this role will also create, update, and circulate editorial standards, resources, and style guides to inform staff and ensure accuracy, respect, and the use of person-centered and asset-based language in external and internal communications.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES :

Knowledge Management and Learning

  • Lead the development of publications and documents such as reports, one-page fact sheets, proposals, and other related materials.
  • Develop project-level knowledge sharing platforms including web pages, social media, eLearning exchanges.
  • Develop and maintain project-wide training and resource materials linked to knowledge management.
  • Support SI, M&E, and project staff to develop articles and abstracts for submission to international public health journals and conferences.
  • Work with project staff to compile impact data and update project communication materials.

External Communication

  • Develop IHP-specific branding templates (PowerPoint, banners, etc.) in line with Project HOPE branding guidelines and IHP Branding & Marking Plan.
  • Develop IHP and Project HOPE talking points and messaging for external events
  • Manage IHP communications channel and online platforms in line with Project HOPE guidelines
  • Design, coordinate, and support implementation a communication strategy for IHP including newsletters, audiovisuals, of webinars, online training, virtual collaborative exchanges, symposiums, conferences, and other events.
  • Build relationships with other global and regional projects and agencies, including USAID HQ, USAID missions, NGOs, governments, and private sector to exchange knowledge using innovative approaches, advocate for innovation transfer, and build the capacity of Project HOPE in knowledge sharing technologies.
  • Provides timely and accurate copy editing, fact checks, and editorial reviews for external communications, internal communications, relevant program documents, marketing materials, etc.
  • Fulfill other duties and responsibilities as may be reasonably assigned by the Sr. Strategic Information Advisor.

    MINIMUM REQUIRED SKILLS, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE :

  • Master’s degree in social sciences, public health, or related degree
  • 5+ years’ experience in leading the design and implementation of global / public health learning and knowledge management strategies for a donor-funded initiative
  • Strong knowledge management background with a track record of developing effective strategies and tools to capture, organize, and disseminate program learning. Understanding of existing theory, practice, and tools.
  • Ability to research, synthesize information, analyze its relevance and communicate it in accessible formats
  • Experience in determining appropriate knowledge management processes, products and ICT enabled platforms.

  • Project HOPE employees work in the global health field and may be required to travel or work in countries where working conditions are classified as “hardship”.
