Human Resource Officer, Global Health

Location : Accra

Ghana

POSITION TYPE :  Full Time, Local Hire

DURATION : 1 year with extension

LOCATION : Accra, Ghana ( note that Project HOPE will not be covering relocation expenses )

BACKGROUND ON Ghana IHP :

The purpose of the USAID-funded Ghana Integrated Health Partnership (IHP) activity to strategically contribute to the Government of Ghana’s strategies to reduce preventable maternal, newborn and child deaths, including stillbirths, and improve their overall health and well-being by 2030. Activities are expected to advance Ghana toward increased localization, strengthening the capacity of Ghana institutions and local organizations to introduce, deliver, scale up, and sustain the use of evidence-based, quality MNCH, voluntary family planning, malaria, and global health security services. The project will increase access, utilization and quality of maternal and child health, family planning, malaria, and nutrition services to reduce preventable maternal, newborn and child deaths in northern Ghana.

POSITION SUMM ARY :

Project Hope seeks an HR Officer to support the HR department in data management, maintaining accurate employee records, including contracts, personnel details, processing transactions, and ensuring compliance with organizational policies and donor regulations. This role is crucial in assisting with day-to-day HR activities and tasks to ensure the smooth functioning of Project HOPE's programs in Ghana.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Responsible for maintaining up-to-date personnel records by accurately entering data into the HR software and systems and ensuring all data is appropriately documented.
  • Support in recruitment and onboarding with job postings, screening candidates and staff orientations.
  • Responsible for employee records and documentation in maintaining accurate employee records, including contracts, personnel details, SSNIT, Tier 2 and 3, drafting of HR correspondences and job-related documentation, ensuring compliance with privacy regulations.
  • Responsible for the preparation and processing of work permits and visas for international staff, ensuring compliance with immigration laws.
  • Assist with payroll and benefits support in the processing of salaries and the administration of employee benefits programs such as health insurance, pensions and other incentives
  • Ensuring logistical support for training, tracking development activities, helping to organize training sessions, workshops and other professional development opportunities of Project HOPE.
  • Handling General HR administration by ensuring day-to-day administrative tasks such as scheduling and meetings, maintaining HR files, and managing office supplies for HR related activities,
  • Contributing to productive, compliant and engaged workforce.
  • Perform any other duties assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIRED SKILLS, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE :

  • Degree in Human Resources and administration, Psychology or related field.
  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience in the field of HR
  • Experience working for or with a non-profit, donor, or government of Ghana preferred.
  • Strong understanding of USAID operations or international NGOs preferred.
  • Skilled in Microsoft office suites
  • Experience with HR software
  • Ability to communicate in English, both written and oral.

  • Project HOPE employees work in the global health field and may be required to travel or work in countries where working conditions are classified as “hardship”.
