POSITION : Civil Engineer
REPORTING TO : Deputy Director, Physical Development, Planning and Transport, Physical Development and Municipal Services Directorate (PDMSD)
JOB ROLE
- The Civil Engineer is responsible for the planning, design, implementation, and maintenance of infrastructure projects within the University of Ghana, including buildings, roads, drainage, and other campus developments. Working under the Deputy Director, Physical Development, Planning and Transport, the Civil Engineer will ensure that all projects meet the University’s standards for quality, sustainability, and regulatory compliance.
- The role includes both on-campus and off-campus projects, requiring effective coordination with multidisciplinary teams, contractors, and University stakeholders.

The applicant must have :
A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field of engineering.Professional registration or certification (GHIE or IET-GH) and be in good standing with at least 2 years post qualification experience.Minimum of 5-7 years of proven experience in civil engineering, construction management, or infrastructure development, managing on-site construction activities, interpretation of detail civil engineering drawings for site implementations and quality control of infrastructural projects, ideally within a university or institutional setting.A Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or another related field of Engineering would be an added advantage.Required abilities and skills :
Technical Expertise : Strong knowledge of civil engineering principles, structural analysis, and construction practices.Project Management : Skilled in coordinating complex projects, managing timelines, and allocating resources effectively.Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills : Ability to diagnose engineering challenges, develop solutions, and make sound decisions.Attention to Detail : Highly detail-oriented, ensuring precision in measurements, designs, and quality control processes.Health and Safety Knowledge : In-depth understanding of safety regulations and environmental protocols.Communication and Interpersonal Skills : Effective communicator, capable of engaging with a diverse range of stakeholders, including contractors, project managers, and university departments.Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.High level of integrity and commitment to professional ethicsApplicants must have served a minimum of two years in a Senior Staff role at the University of Ghana, and must be able to serve a minimum of 4 years in the role before reaching the mandatory retirement age of years.Location : Accra
