Job Purpose
The Maintenance Stores & Planning Engineer at Unilever is responsible for managing the storage, issuance, and replenishment of engineering spare parts, tools, fuels and maintenance materials to support uninterrupted plant operations. The role ensures that critical spare parts and minimum fuel stocks are available for preventive / corrective maintenance and utility operations while optimizing inventory levels, reducing costs, and ensuring compliance with Unilever’s safety and quality standards.
What Will Your Main Responsibilities Be
Oversee the receipt, storage, and distribution of engineering spare parts, tools, fuels and consumables.
Maintain an accurate inventory of spare parts and fuels using Unilever’s ERP system (e.g., SAP).
Implement inventory control measures to prevent stock shortages, obsolescence, and excess inventory.
Ensure proper labeling, coding, and classification of spare parts for easy identification and tracking.
Conduct regular stock audits and cycle counts to reconcile inventory records.
Work closely with the engineering and maintenance teams to ensure the availability of critical spare parts for planned and emergency maintenance. Also fuels for boiler operations
Monitor minimum and maximum stock levels for spare parts & fuels to avoid production downtime.
Coordinate with procurement and suppliers to ensure timely replenishment of engineering materials.
Assist in identifying alternative parts or suppliers to reduce costs and improve efficiency.
Ensure proper storage conditions to maintain the quality and integrity of spare parts and tools.
Optimize warehouse layout for easy accessibility and space utilization.
Supervise the movement and handling of heavy equipment, ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
Track and report inventory turnover rates to improve storage efficiency.
Use Unilever’s software-based Maintenance Management System (Buildapp and SAP) to track maintenance tasks, work orders, and spare parts usage.
Generate and assign work schedules to maintenance technicians and monitor progress.
Ensure proper documentation of maintenance history, breakdowns, and repairs.
Continuously analyze EWOs using this data-based system to identify recurring issues and suggest improvements.
Coordinate tags to improve asset conditions
Conduct failure analysis (Root Cause Analysis – RCA) to identify recurring equipment failures.
Recommend and implement improvements in maintenance strategies to enhance equipment reliability.
Work with production and engineering teams to identify opportunities for automation and process optimization.
Track and report Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) such as Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF),Mean Time To Repair (MTTR) and etc.
Generate reports on maintenance efficiency, costs, and downtime trends for management review.
Provide insights and recommendations for cost-saving initiatives in maintenance operations.
Ensure adherence to Unilever’s Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies within the engineering store.
Implement risk management measures to prevent accidents and fire hazards.
Maintain records and documentation for audits and compliance with Unilever’s standards.
Lead and manage the engineering stores team, ensuring high levels of efficiency and accountability.
Train staff on inventory management best practices, safety procedures, and Unilever’s engineering policies.
Foster a culture of continuous improvement in warehouse and inventory processes.
